William Edward Atkins
William Edward Atkins est né à Portsmouth, Angleterre, en 1842, il était le plus jeune fils de George Henry Atkins, artiste et organiste à la chapelle Royale du port maritime de Portsmouth. Il préférait l'aquarelle à tout autre medium, et durant la decennie 1870 en plus de peindre la plupart des navires amarrés au port local, devint le correspondant et artiste attitré du Journal Périodique Graphic de sa ville. William Edward Atkins was born in Portsmouth in 1842, the youngest child of George Henry Atkins (1811-1872), artist and organist of the Portsmouth Royal Naval Dockyard Chapel.
Atkins specialised in watercolours of naval ships and during the 1870s was the Portsmouth naval correspondent and artist for the Graphic periodical. Regards to Mervyn Doughty, who found the right artist in our BE THE EXPERT category.
