Jori Smith
Jori Smith ( 1907-2005) Peintre, aquarelliste, muraliste, Jori Smith est une figure centrale du milieu de l'art montréalais. Membre fondatrice du Groupe de l'est et de la Société d'art contemporain, elle est surtout connue par les portraits qu'elle réalise à Charlevoix ainsi que pour ses natures mortes et les paysages dessinés lors de ses nombreux voyages à travers le monde. Mariée à Jean Palardy, elle est proche de Holgate, John Lyman, Lemieux et Marian Scott Dale. L'influence de Pellan est visible dans son approche picturale des années 60-70. Artiste importante dans l'histoire artistique du Québec.
Painter, watercolorist, Jori is one of the most important figure in the modern age of art in Canada, founder of the group of the east and the society of contemporary art in Montreal, where she used to live with her husband Jean Palardy before moving and staying all year long in Charlevoix area, where she painted many portraits, landscapes memories of her previous trips around the world, and still life. She was close friend to Holgate, John Lyman, Jean Paul Lemieux, and Marian Dale Scott. in the 60' and 70' we feel the Pellan's influence in her writing. A great artist still touching the souls of ''amateur d'art''
