Manly Mac Donald
Manly Mac Donald (1889-1971) Né à Point Anne en Ontario, il commence sa formation aux États-Unis (Buffalo et Boston). De retour au Canada, il participe aux cours de l'Ontario College of Art. En 1920, il termine sa formation en Europe en compagnie de son épouse. Membre de l'OSA et ARAC, il peint avec talent les paysages de son pays d'origine, la Bay of Quinte et la région de Belleville. Contemporain du Groupe des Sept, ses qualités picturale et son enracinement dans un art traditionnel et régionaliste en font l'interprète du Old Ontario.
Ses oeuvres sont présentes dans les musées canadiens et les grandes collection privées.
Born in Point Anne in Ontario,He begins his formation in the United States (Buffalo and Boston). When he returns to Canada, he takes part in the courses of the Ontario College of Arts. In 1920, he finishes his studies in Europe in company of his wife. Member of O.S.A and ARAC, he paints with talent the landscapes of his origin country, Bay of Quinte and the area of Belleville. Contemporary of the Group of the Seven, his pictural qualities and his rooting in a traditional and regionalistic art make of him the real interpret of Old Ontario. His works are presents in the Canadian museums and the large private collection from all around the world, and some important Canadian banks and companies
