Georges Marie Delfosse
Georges Marie Delfosse ( 1869- 1939 ) Né à St-Henri de Mascouche, Delfosse fait ses études classiques à Montréal et suit des cours de peinture avec l'abbé Chabert en compagnie de Brymner et Dyonnet. Dès 1888, il expose à l'Art Association. D'abord peintre religieux, il participe à la décoration des grandes églises de la province. Il gagne aussi sa vie comme portraitiste des personnalités en vue puis il devient le peintre du Vieux Montréal. Il effectue un séjour en France dans l'atelier de Bonnat et dans les années 20-30, il peint en compagnie des artsites de la montée St-Michel. Ses oeuvres font partie des collections canadiennes et sont exposées dans les musées canadiens.
Born in St-Henri de Mascouche, Delfosse makes his traditional studies in Montreal and took courses of painting with prof l'abbé Chabert in company of Brymner and Dyonnet. As soon as 1888, he exposes to the Art Association of Montreal. first of all he was known as a religious painter, he took part of the decoration of the largest churches of the province. He earns his life also as a portraitist of the personalities in sight then he becomes the painter of the Old Montreal area . He accomplished a stay in France and wrk under workshop of Bonnat and in years 20-30, he paints in company of the artists of the montée St Michel (Montreal specific quarter) . His works belong to the best Canadians collections and are exhibed in the most important museums of Québec province and Canada.
